Kuro Obi Dojo has now been in operation since March, and I'm please to report that membership is increasing apace, particularly in the children's classes. If you have any friends who'd like to learn karate, don't forget let them know the best possible place to train!
Just a quick note to congratulate all those from Newtown dojo who graded on the 6th of June, including Xavier Stocca and Indi Maytta, who both double graded. I'm hoping that those who didn't grade this time, both from Newtown and Petersham, will be ready to grade at the September grading.
Shigemi Nakamura-Simms, Taeko Pegios, Alex Vij, and Sensei Shah all took part in the Kempo Ryu Championships recently, and all of us managed to take home a couple of trophies. See the photo at right with all the trophy winners from the other IFKKA dojo.
Photos and videos will be online as soon as I can get around to it
Training Schedule : School Holidays
Classes at the Petersham dojo will be running as normal throughout the school holidays, so if you aren't going away during that time, don't forget to come along to train.
Newtown dojo classes will NOT be running during the holidays. However students from Newtown who wish to train can come along to the Petersham classes during the time appropriate for their age. See the timetable for details.
Training Schedule : 16th-25th of July
Sensei Shah will be accompanying our competitors (Alex Vij, Jade Lucas, Tony Le, and Robbie Simmons) to the 3rd IFK Junior World Tournament, and will be away from the 16th-25th of July. During that time, there will be no children's classes in Petersham or Newtown. Note: This is the first week back after from the holidays. Adult classes should be running as usual on Tuesday and Friday.
Check the Kuro Obi website for updates.

Have you see Marco Stocca of Kuro Obi Newtown in action? He's current sadly "out of action" because of soccer, but here is is at the 2010 AMAC NSW State Titles.
The winner
- Not Kyokushin, but a Kyokushin offshoot. Check out the balance in these 10-15yr olds. Can YOU do that?
Spinning kicks!
- Not Kyokushin related at all, but these two kids, 6 and 7 yrs old, are amazing - and grading for their 1st Dan!!
